Chandanwari & Passage To The Amarnath Yatra
Situated 16-km from Pahalgam, Chandanwari is the starting point of the Amarnath Yatra, which takes place every year in the month of Sawan (Rain). The destination is the Amarnath Cave, believed to the abode of Lord Shiva. Although the road from Pahalgam to Chandanwari is on fairly flat terrain, and can be undertaken by car, from Chandanwari onwards the track becomes much steeper, being accessible on foot or by pony.Located 11-km from Chandanwari is the mountain lake of Sheshnag, after which 13-km away is the last stop, Panchtarni. The Amarnath cave is 6-km away from there. During the month of 'Sawan', an ice stalagmite forms a natural Shivling (also spelt as Shivlinga), which waxes and wanes with the phases of the moon.

Tulian Lake
If one continues 11-km beyond Baisaran one reaches the Tulian Lake at 3,353m, 1,200m higher up. It is covered in ice for much of the year and surrounded by peaks, which rise more than 300m above its shores. It also can be reached by pony trek.

Around 112 kms from Jammu is the small hill station of Patnitop, perched at the height of 2024 meters. A favourite excursion point from main town of Jammu, this beautiful hill resort is full of thick forests that get blanketed by thick snow in winters. The hill resort also offers breathtaking views of the Chenab Basin valley. In winter Patnitop becomes a popular winter sport centre.

Near Patnitop, about 120 kms from Jammu is the holy shrine of Shudh Mahadev. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, his spot has a story behind it. Near the shrine is a pond where Parvati herself would bathe regularly before commencing her daily prayers. That pond is called as Gauri Kund.

Situated a few kilometers further away is the Mantalai is surrounded by lush deodar forests at an altitude of 2000 m. The place is associated with the legend of the marriage of Lord Shiva with the Goddess Parvati.
62 kms from Jammu, Mansar is a beautiful lake fringed by forest-covered hills. This is the place associated as the abode of Sheshnaag, the serpent god. Gulmarg, or meadow of flowers, is an apt term indeed for this idyllic flower-laden meadow at an altitude of 2,730 metres, in Baramulla district. Situated at a distance of 51 km from Srinagar, it is a saucer-shaped bowl overhanging the main valley of Kashmir. The towering peaks above the meadow are covered with dense forests of tall conifers and gigantic fir and pine trees, all vying with each other to touch the azure skies. A clear day offers some breathtaking views from Gulmarg : fields of rice; clusters of walnut, pear and mulberry; meadows, ridges and forests that lead to the snow slopes of Khilanmarg; the majestic Nanga Parbat peak over a 100 km away.

An equally popular destination in winter, it is coated with a blanket of thick, soft snow, turning its gentle slopes into some of the finest ski slopes. Surrounded by crests of white, the air seems to sparkle against the ice as skiers flash past in the hush of the snow. The resort has one T-Bar Lift, three modern ski lifts and a chair lift. The beginner's slope makes learning easy, with perfect snow conditions and a gentle gradient. Trained instructors are available and equipment can be hired. Skating, curling, and ski bobbing are some of the activities offered. A cable car, takes tourists up to Kongdori.

Kodaikanal - Introduction
Kodaikanal, also known as Kodai, is a quiet hill resort in Tamil Nadu. Nestled at an altitude of 2133m on the Palani Hills of the Western Ghats, it is 120km away from Madurai. There were no wars or battles fought for or in this area, thus Kodaikanal's history is fairly uneventful. But, it has the distinction of being the only hill station in India to be set up during the British Raj by Americans. The British moved here in 1845, and were joined later by American missionaries. The missionaries later established a school for European children here; the Kodaikonal International School is still one of the most prestigious private schools in the country. Places to Visit

The Lake
This 24-hectare lake skirted by a 5 km long road is a focal point of Kodai. It was created in 1863 by Sir Vere Hentry Levinge (1819-1885), the collector of Madurai who retired and settled in Kodai. T.T.D.C. boats, Boat Club boats and Carlton boats are available for hire on an hourly basis. The annual boat pageant is held in May every year as a part of the Summer Festival celebrations. Prior permission has to be taken from the Inspector of Fisheries for angling. Pony rides for quarter, half and full round of the lake are available. The ponies can also be hired on an hourly basis. Cycle rides for children are also available

Dolphin's Nose
This is a flat projecting rock from where one can have a look at the breath-taking view of the Yawning Chasm below. It is about 8 km from the lake.

The Perumal Peak
This 2,440 m high peak is about 11.3 km from Kodaikanal and offers an excellent opportunity for trekking. The climb begins from a point known as Neutral Saddle (Perumal Mallai Village).

Green Valley View
It is about 5.5 km from the lake and very near to Golf club. It commands a beautiful view of the entire Vaigai Dam. As the valley is very deep and dangerous, this place was once called "Suicide Point".
